Chance

 “Liberal Arts”,

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth,And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

My foreign teacher

My friendship with Cathy can be traced back to eight years ago. When I was in grade five, I met this “delicate” and cute Canadian lady in my English tutoring class for “Stat of Outlook” English Talent Competition. The first thing that struck me about her was her clear pronunciation and beautiful handwriting. Seeing how much I like her handwriting, she began to teach me with great patience. Even after eight years, I still write in the style she taught me in every Christmas card. We had a great time together for two years, but in 2010, Cathy decided that it was the time for her to go back to Canada. Reluctant as I was to say goodbye, there was not much that I could do to keep her staying. Before she left for Canada, my parents and I took her on a trip to Hangzhou to thank her for all her help with my study.

Since then, our communication has never been interrupted. Every two weeks, we skype each other and write emails. We send each other nicely-wrapped presents every Christmas and birthday. Talking to her becomes one of the things I look forward to most every time I go back home. Two years passed like a blink. Cathy told me with thrill that she was going to get married with a really nice guy Bob and they would like to invite me to their wedding. I felt so happy for her marriage and was even more excited about attending their wedding in Canada. It took a while for my mom and me to plan our trip. We also had two beautiful blue Tang Attires made as their wedding presents. In the summer of 2012, we stepped on the land of Canada for the first time and had an amazing journey with Cathy and Bob. Bob Johnson turns out to be a “Character”. He is humorous, strong and very considerate. We get along really well and become close friends. On the wedding, the couple wore the Tang Attires and smiled so sweetly that I couldn’t help crying. I was also their photographer of the wedding and took hundreds of photos to record this perfect moment. After the wedding week in Winnipeg, Manitoba, we went on a driving tour to Vancouver. It took us seven days to go around all the cities. We just stopped in any cities we wanted to see more and stayed overnight. Moose Jaw, Drumheller, Whistler, Vancouver, all the cities had their own characteristics and their unique beauty, which I would never ever forget.

This summer, in September, Cathy took Bob to a trip around China. My family was all so happy to receive them as guests again. Cathy and Bob seemed not to change a bit for the past five years. For Cathy, it’s like returning to her second home. But for Bob, China is a brand new country waiting to be explored. My parents and I helped them with booking all the tickets and hotels. Their itinerary was pretty compact. Xi’an, Chengdu, Guilin, Lijiang, Beijing, Zibo, Yangzhou, Nanjing are all cities they wanted to visit. The couple also stayed at my house for a few weeks. My mom cooked delicious traditional
